SECAUCUS, N.J., March 25, 2020—Hudson Regional Hospital has become the first hospital in the United States to use the FDA-approved NanoVapor BioTech Microbial Suppression System (MSS), a large scale application system that disinfects and protects surfaces from all microorganisms including viruses like the COVID-19 for 70 days or more.

The MSS delivers a non-toxic, water-based and biodegradable coating over large surfaces, while being completely safe for human contact. Its antimicrobial agent can help mitigate and prevent the spread of infectious disease at a pandemic scale with its immediately effectiveness and durability when applied to large high-touch surfaces.

“The MSS system can distribute its microbial agent quickly and on a significant large scale in places like hospitals, shopping malls, municipal and office buildings, schools, houses of worship, airports and other public transportation hubs and vehicles,” said Dr. Maurizio Miglietta, DO, FACOS, Clinical Medical Director for NanoVapor Bio Tech and Chief of Surgery for Hudson Regional Hospital.

“Without a current cure for COVID-19, the best strategy to flatten the curve is implementing preventative measures to keep our patients, clinicians and practitioners safe,” said Dr. Nizar Kifaieh, President and CEO for Hudson Regional Hospital. “The NanoVapor Bio Tech system is a game-changer in preventing the spread of illness.”

The NanoVapor Bio Tech MSS system uses a “physical” process that breaks down the outer membrane of bacteria, viruses (including coronavirus), bacteria, fungi, and molds even after it dries on a surface. Actual tests showed more than a 99.8% reduction in microbial count 70 days after application.

The implementation of the NanoVapor Bio Tech MSS system is part of a comprehensive COVID-19 Response Program that includes its designation as the Hudson County testing site.

Hudson Regional Hospital has developed the following testing process for residents and first responders in Hudson County:

  1. If you have a cough or shortness of breath accompanied by a fever please call 201-388- 1097 or 646-862-1161 to begin the screening process;
  2. You will be asked to discuss your symptoms, and if appropriate, give your information and set an appointment time for a screening. You MUST call and be pre-screened in order be tested on site. No exceptions.
  3. Your drive-thru screening will take place in your car. If needed, additional tests will be performed in a specially designated area.
  4. Test results will be provided once available within 3-5 days.

    Hudson Regional Hospital’s internal practices and protocols to care for prospective

COVID-19 patients, and ensure their best outcomes, and re-enforced internal processes that prevent infection within the hospital itself, including twice-daily employee screenings, to respond to all non-virus regional healthcare needs in a safe environment.
